sharks, sequins and plaid

 photo 216683x455_zps1aabc038.jpg
when I got this plaid top and shark tee from Forever 21 a few weeks ago I knew exactly what I wanted to pair them with...this gryphon sequin skirt! I love the mixture of textures and colors in this outfit. This plaid shirt with leather pockets is one of my best buys from Forever 21. They are definitely stepping their game up. In the past few months I've gotten these two pieces, these shorts and this Tupac top. I wore this outfit to the Lucky Brand jeans event last week.

im so incredibly happy the heat wave in New York City is over. I've been dying during those 90 plus days. Let me tell you its really hard to look cute when is 97 degrees and the humidity sends your hair into an afro with uncontrollable frizz and your make up is sliding down your face. Which is why unless I really have somewhere to go...I don't wear makeup. I always feel bad when a reader catches me on a "bum day" (when I look a hot mess). I always feel like I've disappointed them by not living up to their expectations. Actually its kinda funny sometimes. hey...im just a normal girl with an unhealthy habit for shoes and a photographer.

NEW YORK CITY SUNDAYS

my mom came in this weekend from North Carolina so I've been doing a lot of eating, sightseeing and walking. We hit up a few of my favorite Harlem eats such as Red Rooster (where I had the most delish French toast of my life) and Melba's where I had the best catfish and pound cake. Yes...my friends...I ate like a queen this weekend but I definitely burned it all off with all the walking we did.
Red Rooster in Harlem, I got the French toast and shrimp grits. The French toast was wow! The shrimp grits were delish but not as good as Peels.
Of course I took my mom and her friend to Times Square and afterwards we got a drink at The Living Room in the W Hotel Times Square. It's one of my favorite places in the city to relax and I love the décor.
The theme for the décor was punk and they have stunning blown up photos of Madonna all around the space. It was pretty cool to check them all out.
Dinner at Melba's one of my favorite restaurants in Harlem. I always order the same thing...Catfish with collard greens and yams. I was not disappointed. The fish is always fresh and flaky. YUM!
Did a little shopping at Forever 21. I got a cool Tupac Muscle tank and a mesh bra for $21. lol. Pretty good deal I think. I love this cab they have on the bottom floor of the store too.
Took my mom to Columbus Circle and then through the park on one of those bike sleighs. It was pretty fun! then we popped over to 5th Avenue for some window shopping and photo taking before checking out Rockefeller Center. It was a day full of sites to see and I had a great time. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

the perfect date bra and tinder dating

so there are times it every woman's life when she visits Victoria's Secret and goes ham (hard as a mofo). that day was a few days ago for me. i decided that I needed new bra's. bras are definitely something most women have to invest in and it can be very complicated. I have lost a few pounds over the last 4 months and its shows most by my boobs. they have always been small but they are quite smaller now. not that I mind...I can go braless if I want without causing too much of a stir.
I knew i wanted a nice lacy lightly padded bra that would look nice when wearing my usual summer vaguely see through white tees and racer back tanks.
Behold I found this bra...notably named the Perfect Date Bra and was sold.

Bra: Victoria's Secret
it was a definite fashion STEELE at less than $30 too. found it in the PINK section.
pretty ironic that its called the perfect date bra (or something along those lines) because I have recently joined Tinder. Yes...Tinder, the iphone dating app in which you shamelessly look through photos of potential dates in your area and either NOPE them by clicking an X or like them by clicking a heart. It is actually a great way to pass the time waiting for the bus or something to do when waiting in the grocery line. I've been on for about a week and so far have matched 18 times with guys who liked my photos. maybe soon enough I will put this bra to work.

Have a great weekend dolls...im off to check out the Costume exhibit they have at the Prada Soho store of all the costumes made by Prada for the new movie The Great Gatsby! Squeal! I will post photos on my instagram.

Spring Trends Guide 2013: Sweatshirts, Neons and Lace

I'm not looking forward to the time springing ahead (I love all my hours of sleep). But I am excited for Spring...although it seems it will never be here in NYC! We supposedly have some major snow storm on the way and I am not in the least impressed with mother nature at the moment. anywho a girl can dream right? So I'm bringing you another Spring Trends post...you can check out the first of the series HERE.
So for now we are going to cover: Sweatshirts (yes...they are still making a comeback), neons (more solid color only neons), and of course nothing says spring like a little lace!

when I saw this neon orange sweatshirt at Zara I immediately bought it even though orange isn't really in my forte of favorite colors. I loved the brightness and how cozy it is. It's a great stand out peice and something about it screams Kenzo Paris to me. I paired it with this amazing lace flouncy skirt (yes flounce is in for Spring) from Lulus.com and neutral accessories. You can always tone down a loud outfit with a nude shoe! Trust me people are gonna rock the sweatshirt trend right up until summer.
