what i wore to the reunion

so the day after Thanksgiving while I was visiting North Carolina I went to my high school reunion.

yes...i am 28 and im not ashamed damnit. i dont look a day over 24 without makeup lol.

anywho...i wanted to be chic yet a little edgy so i went with this basic black pencil skirt with leather panels from H&M and this new camouflage tee that I picked up at Urban Outfitters.

i think it made the perfect understated statement and yes i saw my high school ex boyfriend. i still remember when he had to take out his retainer before we kissed. ahhhh Youth. its so fleeting.

im so glad i got to visit my favorite jewelry store while in North Carolina. its called Light Years and its located in South Point Mall in Durham NC. if you follow me on instagram (@monroesteele) you have already seen the load of awesomeness i purchased there. they are the most unique jewelry i've ever found even better than here in New York City. i wish i knew who they wholesale from because i'd go insane! i had such a great time visiting my home town for the holidays! i am on a serious camouflage kick right now. you will see soon enough lol.

so a while back i entered a contest at Joe Fresh showing how I was wearing one of their pieces. you can check that post out here where I wore my favorite belt from Joe Fresh. anywho i didn't win the top prize but i did win a gift card to Joe Fresh. im really into the green and yellow in this skirt. its what i liked the most about it and the pleats of course which gives this skirt great movement. this past year i've bought so many booties like these that I almost forgot about my beloved suede L.A.M.B. booties until i unpacked all my Fall/Winter shoes from resting comfortably in their boxes. Yes...I collect shoe boxes lol. But I digress....Joe Fresh is great for basics and everything in the store is color coded. It's also wallet friendly! Geesh speaking of wallet friendly....i must get my Christmas shopping done before December O_o

super excited i got to wear my new H&M necklace to make this look a little less girly girly. i think every blogger i know owns this top but its pretty much the best thing American Apparel has made other than these awesome linen pants, and these tailored pants!

a modern twist

I got this amazing jacquard belle skirt about 6 years ago at a vintage shop in Chapel Hill North Carolina, Time After Time Vintage Thrift. It instantly reminded me of Carrie Bradshaw my fashion icon. I've actually only worn it once to a semi formal ball. It's perfect for all these holiday parties coming up too.

This skirt was less than $20 a fashion steele indeed but it looks so lush! It's also really heavy so it can be worn for those special occasions in the winter as well. the perfect sweatpants

YEAH I SAID IT

*somewhere someones head explodes*

usually sweatpants are the enemy and no one who isn't doing some form of exercise should wear them as clothing, especially not the ones with Juicy written across the bum.

but there are STYLISH sweatpants out there...like these darling darling Maz Azria sweatpants that I have completely and utterly fallen DEEP in love with.
