beaded blazer

Well it isn't actually studded but it has that studded look with the use of beading. I love love love this beaded blazer from Lulus.com. Its eye catching and unique and the perfect topper to any outfit. I wanted to let the jacket shine so I went with a basic all black look with my new H&M jeans and also a great eye popping pair of red pumps from Lulus.com as well.

I'm so glad I got this blazer in time for all the holiday parties coming up. it will be perfect over sequin dresses or over a nice full skirt and top. These are a pair of jeans I bought from H&M after doing my True to Size denim trial. They fit great and I love the distressed look too.

flower crown

if you follow me on instagram (@monroesteele) you may have seen me in the process of making my very first flower crown. after seeing them on one of my favorite bloggers Nicole of Gary Pepper Vintage i've wanted to rock one! so i went to my local Michaels and got all the necessary materials to make one. it was also an incentive to make one being that i am participating in the Nokia Lumia and Leivankash Jewelry fashion challenge. the challenge is to use the Nokia Lumia 900 to create a mood board based on one of the Leivankash Jewelry collections. My favorite of the collections is Flora! thus i got the inspiration to make this flower crown and to do sort of a beauty shoot. its my first of this nature and it was super fun!
Dress: Vintage from Vintage Thrift | Lipstain: Stila Fiery
Eye Shadow: Maybelline EyeStudio

i love the way the crown turned out...even though i underestimated how many flowers i would need lol. i plan to try to make one using real flowers soon! i've been tinkering with shadows and contrast on these photos. it almost makes me look like im an angel...lol.
have you ever made a flower crown?

Plaid is definitely back

i think i was on to something back during the summer when i thrifted this plaid dropped waist dress from Beacon's Closet. Plaid is definitley hot again. i havent worn plaid since I was a tween rocking plaid skirts like the girls of the movie Clueless. that is still one of my all time favorite movies. i must admit i am loving this trend...both the dropped waist and the plaid. for now this is the only plaid in my wardrobe but I plan on adding lots more soon! doesn't plaid just scream Fall/Winter! thank goodness i took these photos last week before it officially turned WINTER today
(there is currently 4 inches of snow on the ground). O_0

I paired this plaid dress with one of my favorite leather jackets. i picked this BCBG leather chai jacket up from Nordstroms Rack a few years back and it has been a constant jacket in my Fall/Winter rotation. check out my post about great Fall/Winter jackets HERE. with this cold weather kicking in i've been spending lots of time discovering shopping websites like this one which has amazing dresses like this one for less than $40! fashion STEELE's all around. they even have a
Back in the 90's section which i love since everything in the 90's in now back in...just like plaid!

Fall Trends Obsessions

i have two new obsessions....cargo jackets/vests and ox blood colored anything.
i admit i am very persuaded by the Fall trends. i can't help myself. after flipping through September and October issues of Elle, Marie Claire, Lucky and Glamour, all i crave is deep burgundys and reds in my wardrobe. i foresee that my Fall and Winter will be full of blacks, greys and reds with pops of mint, forest green and whites. i snatched up this awesome French Connection Jacket from Loehmanns. When I saw it i knew immediately that it can be paired with skinny jeans, pencils skirts and just about anything else I have. its best to invest in pieces that can be worn with anything and that you know you will wear on a regular basis.

im so sad that summer is over but i finally get to wear all my favorite boots and jackets which makes me happy. this is another spin on my Fall Uniform which consist of a jacket and skirt like this post from last week. its also a similar color concept. i really have to force myself not to buy any more burgundy and red pieces. lol.
ps...im seriously considering cutting my hair again...like this or this.
UPDATE: i actually bought these fabiana's thanks to a reader alerting me to the sale at TheOutnet.com.
YAY!

what gets you to move in on a trend?

Devil in a Red Dress

i never and i mean hardly ever wear red. i dont know why. i just didn't really think it was ever a flattering color on me. there is however 1 post i've done in the past where I wore red.
(I dare you to try and find it).
any who... a few week's ago I attended the Holiday Preview at Caravan Studios here in NYC.
Caravan Studio is this awesome space where a lot of designers show their collections.
It's a fashion bloggers dream. I came across Synderela an amazing label and this red dress from their Fall 2012 collection.

i guess i need to invest in more red pieces after all.
i've definitely been eyeing this dress from top shop and this one from Mod Cloth.
P.S. thanks for all the love on Instagram, Lookbook.nu and Facebook and also those who always take the time to comment here on my blog.
