Fashion Week

I'm super exciting to be covering NYFW again this season. I am only doing a few shows this season to keep from getting that dreaded Fashion Week Flu I seem to catch every Fall showing. To kick off I will be covering the 2013 Red Dress CollectionSM  Fashion Show as a brand ambassador for Diet Coke! I can't wait to see all the celebrities and reveal my amazing dress for the event! I'm also looking forward to catching up with blogger buds! We always have a crazy good time. As far as outfits this year...I'm going to keep it simple and comfortable. Enjoy the ride!

RED DRESS FASHION SHOW

I had such an awesome time covering this show for Diet Coke Heart Truth! It was amazing. I got to hang out in the Diet Coke VIP area which overlooked the hair and makeup section of all the celebrities. I personally thought Gabby Douglas, Kelly Osbourne and Roselyn Sanchez stole the show with so much personality shinning through on the runway! Check out the full post on the show HERE, what I wore HERE and all about showing some heart HERE! Don't forget for the entire month of February you can donate a tweet to womens heart health programs from Diet Coke by tweeting or instagram a photo using hashtag #ShowYourHeart.

Nicholas K

Post apocalyptic gear....accessorized with cool crystals and googles.

BCBGMAXAZRIA
I noticed a trend here...lots of skinny pants/leggings worn under shorts/skirts/long tops. There was also a lot of fur and leather accents. There was a layering component as well. I think this is a different direction for BCBGMAXAZRIA. I definitely coveted some of the coats and jackets and bags! I also loved how the models wore beanies!

Tadashi Shoji

This was a beautiful show. Tadashi Shoji really can make the hell out of an occasion dress. My favorites were the red velvet as well as all the dresses with feathery components. All is all it was a really great show and had a great dress for a woman of any age.

Concept Korea

This was by far my favorite look of Concept Korea. It is from the designer KYE. I loved this look from head to toe.

I really loved this show! Mostly for the incredible jackets and fabulous shoes! Is it me or is Rebecca Minkoff stepping her clothing and shoe line game up? I swear I need those on the far right and far left!

Jill Stuart
Jill Stuarts Fall 2013 Collection was one of my favorites this season. I love that she incorporated stripes proving that they are going to be huge not only for Fall 2013 but for Spring as well. The collection was made up of many a-line mini dresses (which I loved because its the perfect shape for my body type). I also loved the laser cut details on a lot of the dresses as well. Make sure to check out the video of the show HERE.

Son Jung Wan

As always Son Jung Wan was a beautiful ultra feminine collection. I also really loved the makeup and hair on the models. My favorite pieces were there red coat/shorts number, the gold dress and the lovely flowing blue dress above.

Herve Leger
well helloooooooooooooo hats and snapbacks as well as matching patterned leggings under pencil skirts. I must say I am digging the Herve Leger Fall 2013 Collection. I went in expecting something totally different and this collection really surprised me in the best way possible. I love it! I think its super unique and fresh and a lovely change of pace for Herve Leger!

Christian Siriano

I always enjoy Christian Siriano's collections and the Fall 2013 collection was no exception. I loved the gold accents! I think he has a wide range of amazing cocktail and evening wear for just about any woman of any age. Thus its a very well rounded collection.

Catherine Malandrino

The Fall 2013 Catherine Malandrino Presentation was just was I thought it would be....awesomesauce! I especially loved the outerwear (amazing quilted leather and hooded coats) blew me away. I wanted it all really. It was a chic yet slightly edgy spin for Malandrino and I loved it.

JEREMY LAING

Jeremy Laing was a very easy breezy show. Not too much tailoring. very slouchy roll outta bed chic. I loved the geographic prints and pops of bright color. There was some maj blogger action at this show too...moreso than any other show I attended. I even spotted Rumi Neely eyeing me and pointing out my Biggie Sweatshirt to her BFF Bryan Boy. They both smiled and loved my top!
Blogger Peony Lim

FINALLY SOME COLOR! I had wondered where all the color had gone during this season of shows at NYFW. Well they definitely POPPED at Karen Walker! I loved everything. The shows with socks, the pops of neon and even the bright makeup. Just because its Fall doesn't mean it has to be drab! The looks were very street chic and overall no nonsense which I like. I loved the sunnies too!

Alice + Olivia

Shoes, Shoes and more Shoes that I need to own immediately. The show was fantastic definitely something there for everyone from the boho princess to the soho queen! But...need I say...shoes....

Another cool show from Giovanna Randall. I really loved the purple dress and the last dress was my absolute favorite. There was a lot of black and white numbers as well as stripes which leads me to believe that Fall will be the season of stripes and black and white. I'm actually already starting to see the trend hitting the streets. Fashion is so fast!
Well....till next season lovers.
xoxo

Now that I've gotten into the swing of New York Fashion Week I am more excited than ever! I have sent out my show requests and the invites are beginning to roll in. I have been shopping like a maniac preparing outfits. Let's not kid ourselves NYFW is a place to see and be seen. It can be the difference between you making it into a top tier fashion magazine or not. I love the shows and it's definitely my favorite part of fashion week but also meeting up with blogger buds I havent seen in ages and making new connections. If you are a fashion blogger and are really interested in taking your blog to the next level Fashion Week is an inevitable must!

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK FASHION BLOGGER ESSENTIALS

These have all saved my life on numerous occasions especially the Fast Flats. By day 3 of NYFW my feet will be screaming at me and these flats sure do help. Also my love for lipstain is a major plus, with Stila Fiery lipstain I know my lips will look fabulous for atleast 6 hours and I wont have to worry about running to the bathroom every hour to check my lips and reapply. Also...the bathrooms at Licoln Center ARE.NOT.GREAT. You'd think the bathrooms would be fabulous but ummmm no. small.cramped.smelly. I will avoid at all cost.

HOW I PREP FOR NYFW VLOG POST

~SEPT 5th CALLULA LILLIBELLE~
I had such an awesome time at the Callula Lillibelle Spring 2013 Presentation. See my full post about it HERE! Edmond (the lead designer) did his THING! I loved the colors, the silky fabrics the roped belts. it was all very Ernest Hemingway meets Andy Warhol for sure!
Check out some of the behind the scenes action and the full video of the Callula Lillibelle Spring 2013 Collection!

~SEPT 6th: Tadashi Shoji, ARISE~

 NYFW Spring 2013 Day 1.
Yay...saw that I was featured in Essence.com today for street style.

Next off I hit Licoln Center for the Tadashi Shoji and Arise show but not before taking lots and lots of outfit photos for photogs and giving a few interviews.
TADASHI SHOJI
i freaking loved it especially the white dress with the side cutouts! simply stunning!

ARISE MAGAZINE AFRICAN ICONS

all in all i really enjoyed the ARISE Magazine presentation but Maki Oh was definitely my favorite!

~SEPT 7th : Noon By Noor, Rebecca Minkoff, Misha~
 ELLE Fashion NEXT Presentation
Check out the full post for this day HERE.

i really loved the Noon By Noor collection. My favorites were the deep pink metallic bomber jacket as well as the deep pink metallic shorts. the unique shapes of the jackets and skirts were lovely as well. Overall I think the collection was very wearable and cohesive. It flowed very nicely and the styling was on point.

Rebecca Minkoff Rocked it as usual. I am IN LOVE with the white leather jacket and the overalls. I am a huge fan of rompers and overalls and i love how she incorporated leathers and floral prints into the collection. the bags were amazing especially the orange chained linked bag
(le sigh at how long i will have to wait until it comes out.) I also hit up the after party which was DJ'd by DJ Cassidy and he ROCKED IT too.

Misha was a really lovely collection as well. A smaller production at Alvin Ailey Dance School. I loved the venue. The collection was very tailored and girly. The use of appliques were used a lot as well as exposed backs. I really enjoyed a gorge pair of yellow shorts and a green middrift top combination.
ELLE Fashion Next Presentation was really lovely and it certainly was amazing to be in the presence of Joe Zee the creative director of Elle magazine and my personal hero. All of the students were incredible and so were the collections. I also loved the venue setup at David Koch Center. After the show was a lovely cocktail reception out on the balcony overlooking Licoln Center.

~SEPT 8th: Son Jung Wan, VLOV~
Christopher Esber and ELLERY

SON JUNG WAN

VLOV

Christopher Esber and ELLERY

All of these shows were pretty amazing but I fell in love with ELLERY. I brand I hadn't discovered until now. They have they most amazing tailored clothing and I died for a pair of assymetrical black shiny shorts and a copper colored cape. Check out the full post for today HERE.

~SEPT 9th: Catherine Malandrino, Kara Laricks~

Catherine Malandrino has been my favorite collection so far at SS2013 New York Fashion Week. I would seriously wear every single piece. I loved all the amazing detailing especially on the jackets and vests. very rich textures and the knits were extremely beautiful and you can tell everything was very well made to last a lifetime. Malandrino are the types of pieces in a wardrobe that are staples and the wow factor to an ensemble. See the FULL BLOG POST for today HERE.

Kara Laricks presentation was exactly what I imagined it would be...tailored, assymetrical lines, and a play on ties and mens wear inspired. the collection didn't dissappoint. my favorite was a sheer number with white shorts with a connection piece to make it look like a suit jacket bottom. i think the tailoring was amazing but definitely a stray from Kara's signature dark moody colors and I liked this transition!

I was also super amped today because I ran into one of my favorite photogs
tamu mcpherson of All the Pretty Birds
i love how her style is so effortless yet always works and those shoes are beyond amazing!

~SEPT 10th: Joy Cioci, Carlos Miele, Farah Angsana, Kuning~ Karen Walker, Alice + Olivia, Libertine
by far my busiest day....my feet kill. check out the full post from today HERE.

Joy Cioci is one of my favorite designers. She is simple and to the point but with a unique twist. i love the beachy feel of this collection and her use of shells and prints. The lovely reflective shell dress is one of my favorites of the SS2013 Joy Cioci Collections.

Between shows I popped over to the Empire Hotel to check out the Kuning Presentation. It was very interesting because it was an interactive presentation. i loved the crisp yet flowing whites and the pastel color blocked blazer! the cupcakes they were giving out gave me life too!

Karen Walker
one of my favorite shows of NYFW SS2013. i loved the styling ie (super long bangs and tall cool hats). i want one of those hats damnit! the show was super fun and light and i liked the prints. she incorporated a lot of polka dots too which my affinity for is growing.

The Alice + Olivia Presentation was fanstastic. There is definitely something for everyone in this collection. My favorite was the stunning yellow fitted dress. The collection had an old school vibe with a present day twist! I also enjoyed the delish Magnum Mini Ice creams passed out during the presentation as well. The collaboration with Alice + Olivia and Magnum Ice Cream was in full effect. I love the fringe sparkly skirt!
So glad to meet one of my favorite blogs Peony Lim!
Hey is P'trique from Sh*t Fashion Girls Say! If you havent seen the videos on YouTube...you must go watch them now...HILARIOUS!
~SEPT 12: BOY MEETS GIRL~
this show was like a concert...mainly because it was a concert! Wyclef and Cris Cab performed and it was awesome. wyclef has such a great sense of humor. he luaghed and joked with us while we interviewed him on the red carpet. even taking a paps camera and taking his own photos as well as borrowing a hat from a show goer to pose in for a few photos. very humble and down to earth. the show itself was signature Boy Meets Girl with all the neccessary wardrobe staples.

Day 3:
Lela Rose, Joy Cioci
Lela Rose put on another gorgeous fashion show this season. The dresses, retro hair and the statement necklaces and use of patterns are what did it for me.
It was the details that really caught my eye with Lela Roses' Fall 2012 collection.

I was also featured in ELLE Magazine in my outfit for this day!

In between the Lela Rose and Joy Cioci Fashion Shows I hoped a cab over to Caravan Studios for the Socialyte Collective Blogger Gifting Lounge.
There were stylish people in fashion everywhere from designers to bloggers to writers.
I also did an interview for Fashion News Live!
There were delicious drinks and awesome gifts from Rebecca Minkoff, Chinese Laundry and Bauble Bar and so much more. I have a huge bag of fun goodies!

I am smitten with Joy Cioci Fall 2012 collection. The styling was amazing. The clothing was walk off the runway ready. This is definitely a sophisticated girly girl with edge collection.
Check out this video of the Joy Cioci Fall 2012 Presentation.

Loving the blue dress and the cool socks..I know I love the little quirky things!

Day 2:
Porter Grey, Jill Stuart, Son Jung Wan, Christian Siriano
I finally had the chance to meet Alexandra and Kristin O'Neill founders of Porter Grey.
I love the youthful yet stylish and chic structure of their designs.
Here are some of my favs from Porter Grey

Jill Stuart was an amazing show from start to finish. I especially loved the sheer madness (pun intended) that was going on!

Son Jung Wan is really just a lovely designer. You can tell she is so appreciative and humble and just really loves what she does and that's designing a fabulous Fall 2012 collection.
Fur Fur Fur in jewel tones....YES. Please and Thank You!

Last but not least...Mr. Christian Siriano. No words are needed. The man is genius.

After this show...I hoped over to one of my favorite restaurants Cafeteria for some Mac & Cheese Spring rolls with Gouda dipping sauce. Then I walked over to my favorite place in the world..Loehmanns and left with a faux fur vest and a D&G pair of sunnies that I cant wait to ROCK!
Today I also witnessed an impromptu fashion show outside of Lincoln Center.
Kinda cool actually... take a look at the video.

Here was my outfit for the day which was featured in Vogue. It

Day 1:
Rebecca Minkoff, Nicole Miller, Katya Leonovich

The Rebecca Minkoff Show was nothing short of amazing. theophilus london put it down as the models strutted down the crisp white runway styled to perfection.
That first look gave me life!

After Rebecca Minkoff I attended the Nicole Miller and Katya Leonovich Fashion Shows.
Nicole Miller brought it as usual with a kind of urban boho chic collection.

I am feeling the Jay-Z too. lol.
Here is Nicole Miller backstage after the show along with the photo board.

Here are a few flicks of my favs from Katya Leonovich.

After the shows I headed over to the Lulu's Blogger Lounge where I hung out with a few members of the NYC Fashion Bloggers Meetup Group. I also was able to take home one cool romper from the Lulu's Style Closet!
Fashion Week fall 2012 was frickin amazeballs...

Fashion Week Overview
This was my first fashion week and it was trully amazing. I had the time of my life. Sitting in a show waiting for the bright lights to pop and the music to sound and the models to walk...was magical.
This has honestly been one of the most exciting and enriching weeks of my life.
I have achieved a goal I set for myself and got to be in the very center of fashion itself.
I had a lovely time meeting great people and witnessing history of fashion in the making.
My favorites were definitely Luca Luca, Honor and Porter Grey!
Stay tuned for next season!
Thanks for taking this ride with me.
Sept 13th Fashion Week Day 6: Tibi

This was a lovely show. It was very clean and classic.
Sept 12th Fashion Week Day 5: Carlos Miele, Pamella Rolland, VLOV-Qingqing Wu, Norman Ambrose
Today I got my photo taken by one of my favorite photographers Guerre of Swagger 360 and Guerreisms. OMG! He is also quite hot....but I digress. I wore my favorite Tibi dress today even though I'm attending the show tomorrow. I am pretty sure someone will be wearing it. So I wanted to get a head start!
I'm really super excited to be featured in Vogue.it
This day I also had the chance tp get down to the Fashion Indie Lounge for some rest and relaxation. Here are a few flicks:
Me in my Philomena Kwok Fascinator! She is super talented!

Sept 10th Fashion Week Day 3: Son Jung Wan, ADAM, Farah Angsana, Honor
Today was a day I will never forget mainly because I got to see my Fashion Idol Tracee Ellis Ross. She is really the one person that got me into fashion. Watching her on Girlfirends was the highlight of my days and I would immmediately go out and try to dublicate (although on a smaller budget) her amazing outfits!
I also got to visit the Teen Vogue Lounge Today
One of the shows I saw today was my favorite. HONOR blew me away. The designer Giovanna Randall really just did a superb job. The dresses were whimsical and very flirty and girly yet very wearable. I also loved the jewelry.

Today was extra busy yet super fun. I found out I was featured in street style on the
Fashion Bomb Daily! I am super stoked about it. I look up to Claire because she is an awesome blogger and a nice person. The shows were all amazing. I can't say enough about them.
Make sure to check out the quick vids of each show and let me know which are your favorites. I was pleasantly surprised with the young and fresh look of Nicole Millers Spring 2012 collection. I have no words! Luca Luca was just astonishing from begining to end. Joy Cioci was playful with her collection and I loved it. Rebecca kicked ass! So just sit back relax and enjoy the vids!

Sept 8th Fashion Week Day 1: Porter Grey, BCBGMAXAZRIA
Today the shows at Lincoln Center kicked off and I got there early to take all the festivites in. It was a rainy gloomy day but by lunch time the sun had come out and so did the glamorous people!
Fashion and anticipation was in the air.
The clicks of heels filled the room. I LOVED IT! I felt like a definitely belonged there. Contrary to what some folks may think people in fashion are all really nice. No bitchy attitudes spotted anywhere! Although there was a native new yorker along the sidewalk who was pissed so many people were taking up the sidewalk with their camera's and huge bags and commented
"F*@! all you Fashion People!"
We all just smiled, maybe even laughed and went about our merry ways.

Sept 7th Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference
This year I've been starting my Fashion Weeks off with the biannual IFB Conference. I actually attended my first conference back in February. Check out my coverage HERE and HERE. The panel is going to include some awesome people. I'm looking forward to Claire of The Fashion Bomb Daily and Yuli Ziv who just released the book "Blogging your way to the Front Row".

I had a great time at IFB Conference. I learned a lot especially from Ari Goldberg! I loved meeting up with old friends and meeting some of my favorite bloggers such as Amy from Baby Budget Blog! Isn't it so weirf how you can feel like you know someone based on a twitter or blogger relationship!
It's really amazing the way social media has connected us all and enabled us to share experiences! That was a major theme at IFB Conference today.
Sept 6th Twas the Night Before IFB Conference at MOBar
I had such an amazing time at this event hosted by Vahni of Grit and Glamour. We had such a great conversation and I found out that we are both from North Carolina! Soooo cool. The scene was very intimate and low key. The drinks were flowing along with delish finger foods!
I finally got to meet some of my favorite bloggers such as Nicole of Gary Pepper Vintage and Christina of Profesh Style. It was a fun time for all. Here are a few flicks below

Sept 5th Gearing Up for NYFW
So far I've got everything I need. My camera (cannon powershot) with an extra battery. I have my cell phone with 2 extra batteries and my business cards. I'm ready for all the festivities to begin. My schedule is pretty freaking crazy. The powershot isn't great for blog outfit photos..really need to upgrade and get an SLR...the great thing about Cannon Powershot SX30 is the awesome video capabilities (and swivel camera) that I will definitely be using for fashion shows.
Check out this video of how I blogged my way into NYFW (not exactly the front row...but close enough!)
