taxi cab confessions

 photo IMG_5132683x1024_zps1ba7cee6.jpg
anyone else used to watch that late night show Taxi Cab Confessions? It was really good! I wonder what ever happened to it? New York City is synonymous with the yellow cab so I had to do a post with one. I loved cabbing it when I'm wearing heels but for the most post im a subway kinda gal. I find that the train gets you anywhere in Manhattan in 20 minutes or less if you really know the subway lines. I swear I can get from Washington Heights to Washington Square Park in 26 minutes flat.

sometimes I like a good sturdy sneaker...especially when im running around town doing errands. here is something they don't tell you about living in New York.
if your building isn't new and doesn't have more than six floors there is NOT an elevator. I live on the 5th floor and always (on purpose) omit to guest visiting for the first time that there is no elevator until they buzz my buzzer. thus I carry my loads of laundry when washing as well as my tons of bags of groceries up 5 flights on a regular basis and pretty much have it down to a science.

Oh New York, New York with your rat infested subway stations, non central air conditioned apartment buildings and rising prices of metro cards...how I love thee.

better late than never

 photo IMG_4627683x1024_zpsd7be1a12.jpg
Independence Day has come and gone. It was brutally hot. I went for this red, white and denim blue look. The overalls I picked up from Urban Outfitters, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite stores. See them worn differently HERE. It's easy breezy but its pretty expensive...even more so than Zara on occasion. I actually got a few new items from Urban Outfitters today. Even though i'm on a spending freeze until I go to Paris I had to have this one special t-shirt!

borrowed my babes sunnies for this look. the mirrored sunglasses really added that extra touch of blue I was looking for for this outfit. Anywho I am so happy the weather is finally cooling down a little in New York City. I am actually really ready for Fall! Before I know it it will be time for Fashion Week again! My favorite holiday next to Thanksgiving. Hope you all like the look and for those who follow me on Instagram you saw this last week!

NEW YORK CITY SUNDAYS

my mom came in this weekend from North Carolina so I've been doing a lot of eating, sightseeing and walking. We hit up a few of my favorite Harlem eats such as Red Rooster (where I had the most delish French toast of my life) and Melba's where I had the best catfish and pound cake. Yes...my friends...I ate like a queen this weekend but I definitely burned it all off with all the walking we did.
Red Rooster in Harlem, I got the French toast and shrimp grits. The French toast was wow! The shrimp grits were delish but not as good as Peels.
Of course I took my mom and her friend to Times Square and afterwards we got a drink at The Living Room in the W Hotel Times Square. It's one of my favorite places in the city to relax and I love the décor.
The theme for the décor was punk and they have stunning blown up photos of Madonna all around the space. It was pretty cool to check them all out.
Dinner at Melba's one of my favorite restaurants in Harlem. I always order the same thing...Catfish with collard greens and yams. I was not disappointed. The fish is always fresh and flaky. YUM!
Did a little shopping at Forever 21. I got a cool Tupac Muscle tank and a mesh bra for $21. lol. Pretty good deal I think. I love this cab they have on the bottom floor of the store too.
Took my mom to Columbus Circle and then through the park on one of those bike sleighs. It was pretty fun! then we popped over to 5th Avenue for some window shopping and photo taking before checking out Rockefeller Center. It was a day full of sites to see and I had a great time. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!
