Brooklyn Flea Market

Brooklyn Flea Market from Monroe Steele on Vimeo.

So I along with a few members of the NYC Fashion Bloggers Meetup Group went to the Brooklyn Flea market Sunday. It was my first time going and it was pretty freaking awesome. I am a thrift maniac so being surrounded by so much vintage and second hand items gave me an instant headache. Well maybe the hot son beaming down on me and my dehydrated body was what actually gave me the headache but that neither here or there. The weather was perfect once the sun toned itself down behind a cloud and the breeze off the east river floated salted air around the flea.
I took home some great buys. A ring, necklace, belts and two purses! I'm actually surprised I didn't buy any clothes. Probably because I was too busy buying food. The vendors were AMAZING. I had two of these and even corn (which I had to wipe off my lipstick to eat) lol.

My Buys
Vintage Horse Closure Belt $10 Fashion STEELE!
This belt was definitely one of my favorite buys...I've already rocked it since.
I think it was a STEELE at $25
Skull Ring...the cool thing about this ring is the head spins and comes off with a little compartment inside!

Got this amazing necklace for $20 which was a STEELE! But I can't say the same for the vintage bag. I dropped some serious dough on this but I just had to have it.
Lastly I got this cute little vintage bag for $10 fashion STEELE!
The fashion scene at the Brooklyn Flea was lovely to people watch.

Fashionable Friends: Sheena

I run with a pretty unique circle of fashionable, witty and driving women. It's good to surround yourself with people who are positive and encouraging and share like minded ideas, morals and ambitions.
Sheena is one of my great friends in NYC. She has a unique sense of style and she too is a thrift/vintage lover. We bonded over our love for thrifting and our favorite movie "Brown Sugar".

Sheena has awesome hair! She is natural. I wish I had the guts to go natural...but I don't so I live my natural life vicariously through her! hahaha

Myself and Sheena at 7 for all Mankind in Soho during Fashion Night Out 2010!
I will tell yall a secret...while leaving Sheena's house that night to go down to Soho...I fell down the steps LOL. I mean I toppled...but Sheena told me I did it so gracefully as if I was delicately protecting my dress from my lipstick. Haha! Good thing for all the free champagne that night to dull my senses and my throbbing knee.
Sheena also has an Etsy Store.
She is a die hard thrifter and finds some of the most amazing deals in NYC.
Check out her Etsy Store at Vintage Lucky Brown!!!!!
She will also be one of the vendors at the Shop & Swap Event!!!

I will do a Fashionable Friends Post every now and again to showcase some of the amazing people in my life who inspire me to be creative!
Who or what inspires you to be creative???

XOXO
