Classic and Unconventional Beauty

My two style icons are without a doubt Diana Ross and Marilyn Monroe. Diana Ross for me is just a timeless classic beauty with impecable style and grace. I also love her daughter Tracy Ellis Ross fashion sense as well. I liked the way Marilyn Monroe thought. She was savy and smart, making herself one of the most talked about women of her time as well as all time. She had moxy and guts! Thats what I admire most about Miss Monroe! She also had the most chic style.

Here are more items I find to be classics such as a MAC lipstick in red and the warm soft scent of Cashmere Mist perfume by Donna Karan

Here's my rendition of that classic Diana Ross black and white photo

I read a lovely article in this months Marie Claire magazine that made me smile as a read diligently on the train. The article was title "The Gap Generation". It focused on up and coming models and actresses with gaps (or a space between their two front teeth). The article spoke of Lara Stone, the new face of Louis Vuitton, Anna Pequin of True Blood, Georgia Jagger and Vanessa Paradis french girlfriend of Johnny Deep and face of Chanel Rouge CoCo lipstick.

I love that something so quirky is now a wanted commodity when some of us gaped tooth girls suffered endlessly in school. I learned to love my gaped tooth smile and I'm glad the rest of the world is falling in love with it too!

Here's a picture of me showing off my smile at my graduation!

Farmers Market Fashion

I often put on some of my best outfits to do the most mundane things such as going grocery shopping. lol. Why not? You never know who you'll meet, but more importantly I just feel better when I look good. Today I took a trip down to Union Square Farmers Market. The park was filled with delicious apples, home made pumpkin bread (one of my many food addictions lol), street performances and tons and tons of fashion. I'm not the only one who grocery shops in heels.

This chic maven really can layer! Some people just have the layering gift. Check out that fox tail!

This fashionista knows how to work an animal print! She inspired me so much I went and bought an animal print dress. Look out for it in a future post.

This outfit is amazing. I love the bold bright colors and the edge with the boots.

I want her shoes!!!!!!!!

Love the rockstar messy togetherness of this outfit.

These boots are the perfect color and the scarf is lovely!
I love this whole ensemble right down to the sunglasses. She is also rocking the sheer stockings with knee socks trend. I've been seeing it everywhere.

I caught a really cool street performance in Union Square today. A human beat boxer
Reo Matsumoto. He's dope!

So I want to know whats your food addiction?

Fashion On and Off the Runway

So tonight I hit up a great event at Parsons. Sisters on the Runway, a student-organized fashion show that benefits Safe Horizon. Safe Haven is a place women can turn to for help and support who are victims of domestic abuse. There was a silent auction and also a raffle with some really cool prizes. All proceeds went to Safe Haven. It was pretty awesome and the fashion on the runway was spectacular but the fashion off the runway was inspirational.

Here are a few pictures of my ensemble for the evening. I managed to work in my new Dolce and Gabbana blazer from Housing Works and my new hat from Vintage Thrift that a got on my Vintage Me This Vintage Me That excursion found here.

I wore a mustard colored shirt from Forever21 and Bandage skirt with sheer American Apparel pantyhose and my fav ASOS suede platform pumps. Necklace also from Housing Works.

I had to get a close up of this lovely cap I got at Vintage Thrift Store found here. Here are a few pictures of the fashion off the runway.

Loved how fashionista #1 mixed prints (All Urban Outffitters)
and I can get enough of fashion maven #2 chic sweater!

Love these looks!
Both have something shinny weather shoes or sequins!
I followed her around just to get a picture! The hat, the shawl love this bohemian chic look!
Fierce from the lip color to the sequin belt and clogs!

Love the patterned pantyhose!

Love the shoes!

The girl above had this amazing ring. She got it in Hong Kong...man oh man the things I'd do for this ring!
One of the models from the show. She has great personal style and the same booties I'm wearing...in BLACK!

This is actually one of the people who donated to the raffle. She does Hand Made Accessories. I snapped this picture of her with one of her necklaces on. I didn't know she actually made it until I won the raffle for one of her necklaces and a few other pieces. Yay!

Here is one of my favorite pieces from the actual runway show. A big wooly coat in a beige color. I'd ROCK THIS!

So fashionista's out of all the looks off the runway which is your favorite?
I will also be having a prize give-away of the Gabriela Noelle pieces in a later post, so stay tuned!
