a match made in heaven

these pants from American Apparel are one of my favorites. I love that they are linen
too but can still be worn year around. I wore them recenty at New York Fashion Week.
I've been seeing tons of new color matches such as
 red and orange pairings,
and yellow and green pairings.
This is my spin on things. Basically you just choose two strong colors that are in the same color zone
and presto...you have yourself the NEW color block.

Pants: American Apparel | Top: Old Navy | Blazer: Necessary Objects
Sunnies: D&G | Shoes: Charles Jourdan
i am very much in love with this $8 top i got at Old Navy! a real fashion STEELE if i must say so myself. it is the perfect NEW IN color of the season and I'm crazy for it.
If only i could find pants in this color! I paired it with my very comfortable Charles Jourdan pumps that I went all over Manhattan searching for a few months ago.
what do you think of this NEW color blocking trend with two like colors?

Necklace: c/o Satya Jewelry

I love this necklace that Satya Jewelry sent me. They have gorgeous jewelry with meaning. I wear it when I want to feel extra special. The lotus embodies infinite potential and symbolizes renewal, transformation and new beginnings. The heart is the symbol of love and compassion. The Ruby is a stone of passion and brings spiritual health, wealth and wisdom....all of which I need! It flowed perfectly with this wine colored mini skirt I got at Forever 21. Ohh and I FINALLY got the Essie Polish Smokin Hot that I have been stalking the city for...YAY

next to nothing

Outfit
Dress: LUSH via Necessary Objects
Necklace: Brooklyn Flea Market get yours HERE!
Bag: Also got at the Brooklyn Flea vintage Freone Firenze
Vintage Sunnies: Got it at The Vintage Twin Event

I wore this outfit to my friend Stephanies Miss America Fundraising Party. This top is sheer so i wore some biker shorts underneath and a regular bra. I also finally broke out my work of art bag! I am inlove with it. It's so unique but very delicate so I can only wear it during special occasions!

Although I was wearing next to nothing it was still very very hot! We've been hitting the 90's lately. It's definitely hot but I won't complain. I'm actually already starting to shop for Fall and Winter. Although that merchandise isn't out yet in chain stores such as H&M and Zara I get the goods from thrifting. I just stocked up on some Fall Blazers and a great faux fur winter coat!
Look out for my Fall/Winter Thrifting Post!

P.S.
What do you think of the lip color???

Black Lace and a Blue Stone

I got this great ring from ASOS and I even saw it in the March issue of Marie Claire Magazine!

I got this amazing necklace at an African Shop on 125th Street. I am obsessed with this store and all their beautiful accessories.

Platforms: Jessica Simpson Dany Platform see them worn differently HERE  and HERE  and HERE!!!!!
Ring: ASOS
Necklace: African Shop on 125th St

When I came across this amazing skirt at Necessary Objects for only $21 I had to have it. I have been wanting a maxi skirt like this for awhile. Glad I finally can cross it off my list! I love pairing skirts like this or ankle length skirts with socks and heels. I think this trend is preppy yet chic!
What do you all think of the socks with heels look?
I saw it a lot on the runways during NYC Fashion Week. Let's thanks Mother Nature for warming NYC up to a boiling 52 degrees today and curse her for the 30 degree weather tomorrow...sigh.

Make sure to check out my closet I posted some great new items for sale

Black Velvet Sunshine

I was thifting a few days ago at the Salvation Army on 125th St in Harlem (During my lunch break...I know I know I'm a thriftaholic) when I came across this lovely pale yellow A-Line Skirt. I fell in love with it. I got it for only $4...Fashion STEELE! I've been really into maxi skirts or ankle length skirts lately with either fitted blazers or oversized sweaters. The combination is perfect for those balmy days in later Winter/early Spring.

Got this great silver bangle from an African Shop on 125th St. See more of my finds from that shop HERE!!!!

Got this little bag as well the same time I got this skirt. Its so dainty but can fit a lot inside it!
Only $3!!!!

 Outfit
Blazer: Lovely Day via Necessary Objects
Velvet Tank Top: Cope via Urban Outfitters
Skirt: Thrifted
Bag: Thifted
Earrings: Urban Outffiters
Shoes: NYLA Sully Clog via DSW
I have been thrifting up a storm lately. I really need to stop. This velvet top I got the other day while at Urban Outfitters at the Around The World Designer Showcase. It was on sale and 30% off so I only paid $6 for it! Total for the top, skirt and bag is a whooping $13! Of Course I then went and got these feather earrings from Urban as well!

I was a little apprehensive about wearing velvet so late in the Winter. But it works with this bright yellow.
What do you all think about wearing velvet in the warmer months of Spring and Summer???

XOXO
