Mastering Parisian Style

Blazer/Shoes: Zara | Boyfriend Jeans/Beanie: H&M | Top: NYC street corner
I'm just going to put it out there. I don't know what all the hoopla is about when it comes to Parisian style. Most of the people here dress the same as they do everywhere else. Now I can count on one hand how many times I starred at a Parisian women and admired her style. Exactly 5 times since I've been here. Once today when I was going into the subway this very French woman with a fabulous coat, heels and red lipstick was coming out and I thought: hotdamn! whatever she's having I will have two!
Sweater: H&M | Jeans: Lucky brand | Hat: Recently bought in Paris at Galeries Lafayette
Shoes: Zara
There is definitely a few Parisian chic uniforms and it usually involves a very form fitting leather jacket, the perfect pair of skinny jeans that make your ass look fabulous and a sturdy closed toed heel (whether boot or pump). Then there's that whole scarf thing. Even when its not so cold....there always ALWAYS has to be a scarf. The other uniform I've seen a lot of is a very large oversized sweater worn as a dress, with a belt, leggings, boots and that said leather jacket again. I admit Paris made me want to amp my outfit of the day game up. It's really about being comfortable yet stylish.
Sweater: Top Shop | Skirt: Gyphon New York | Jacket: Dallin Chase | Shoes: Alexander Wang
The day I wore this two Parisian guys told me I look magnifique and tres belle. Yeah no one could tell me anything for the rest of the day. I think the French already dig my style. If you are looking to master Parisian Style check out some of these sets.

parisian thoughts

when i put together this outfit i was thinking of my trip to Paris next year. I am quite excited about it being that its my dream city...next to New York. when i was a teenager living in North Carolina all i could think about was living in New York City. now that i've been here 6 years all I can think about is Paris. I spent high school learning French and reading Le Petit Prince a million times (in french). i used to dream in French. im rusty now. i can read it and write it much better than I can speak it.
i cant wait to roam the streets and visit the vintage shops. i cant wait to visit Musee du Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, Jardin des Tuileries, and Versailles.
but for now the closest I will get to french anything is these YSL pumps.

i love the romantic look of white on satin pearl white. i think for the winter i will be doing a lot of winter whites. the texture of the sweater is what drew me to it. its sooooo luxuriously soft. i topped the look off with a thrifted bag i got during one of my Thrift and the City Tours. I love this vintage jacquard skirt. i've had it for atleast 10 years. I got it from a great vintage shop Time After Time in Chapel Hill, NC. it cost about $10 but i've worn it to very special occasions. the last being New York Fashion Week. During my trip next year to Paris I will be there during fashion week but im all about getting to know the city and if i make it to a show or two...well that's just dandy. My dream hotel to stay in is the Mandarin Oriental Paris. It is such a serence and beautiful hotel.
we shall see how it works out!

do you have a dream city you love?
