Spring Trends Guide 2013: Sweatshirts, Neons and Lace

I'm not looking forward to the time springing ahead (I love all my hours of sleep). But I am excited for Spring...although it seems it will never be here in NYC! We supposedly have some major snow storm on the way and I am not in the least impressed with mother nature at the moment. anywho a girl can dream right? So I'm bringing you another Spring Trends post...you can check out the first of the series HERE.
So for now we are going to cover: Sweatshirts (yes...they are still making a comeback), neons (more solid color only neons), and of course nothing says spring like a little lace!

when I saw this neon orange sweatshirt at Zara I immediately bought it even though orange isn't really in my forte of favorite colors. I loved the brightness and how cozy it is. It's a great stand out peice and something about it screams Kenzo Paris to me. I paired it with this amazing lace flouncy skirt (yes flounce is in for Spring) from Lulus.com and neutral accessories. You can always tone down a loud outfit with a nude shoe! Trust me people are gonna rock the sweatshirt trend right up until summer.

i love shoes...thats my effin problem

some women love clothes or accessories. some women love jewelry or bags.
me... I love shoes...that's my effin problem.
now I like a good deal...hence the title of my blog Fashion Steele NYC...also its my last name so its a double cooltandra. but shoes...well I don't care how much a shoe costs. if I really really want them i will find a way to buy them. whether that be taking another job, working extra hours or stalking them on various websites until they go on sale. I have stalked ebay, I have done sample sales, I've gone from one store to another looking for my size. Heck I've even interviewed one of L.A.M.B.s shoe designers! A good shoe can make an outfit even if you are wearing a garbage bag...a fabulous pump and damnit you look great. any who NYFW got me jonesing for shoes and these are a few that will be in HEAVY rotation this Spring.

the green dress

i picked up this great green dress during last september during NYFW from Urban Outfitters.
it's a light jersey material that doesn't wrinkle...perfect for this insane humid and hot weather. but i have a hair trick for humidity and its 2 items Arrojo frizz control while hair is wet and Garnier Fructis Style Sleek and Shine Anti Humidity Smoothing Milk (once you've styled). it doesn't matter if the humidity is 100% your hair will be flawless. (trust me)

Bracelet: Forever 21 | Ring: ASOS | Lipstick: NARS Heat Wave
well there's not much to say except... double sided sticky tape is awesome. i am super amped about fashion week. its really one of my favorite holidays. dont get it twisted its not all glam and clothes...although it really is! last fashion week my feet hurt sooooooooooo bad. its a lot of standing in line and waiting to get into shows but its definitely an experience to sit front row in complete darkness...and feel the electricity in the room of everyone in anticipation. then the music blast the light is blinding white and then models come..and the clothes do too.
its an experience well worth my swelled feet!
Check out what i wore last NYFW Spring 12!
ps...YAY my September Issue of Elle arrived...please excuse me for the next hour!

all thrifted outfit part II

so this is the second outfit i put together with my amazing finds from Salvation Army and Beacons Closet. this Christian Dior Skirt is one of my best finds EVER coming in a $17.95! fashion STEELE indeed! I love that this skirt incorporates 3 of my favorite things: midi skirts, florals and bright colors! did i mention this skirt has pockets!

ahhhh isn't she a beaut! im still excited about this thrifted find! i paired it with this vintage top. its so much easier to thrift tops to incorporate into your wardrobe than any other item. my favorites are silk tops. they seem to be in abundance in all the thrift shops in NYC. also pretty stoked i finally get to rock my L.A.M.B. Mirage sandals that I have been obsessing about ever since seeing them in nordstroms rack! now i just want them in black. they are super comfortable too and i get stopped every time i wear them!
if you've never been thrifting...give it a shot! you can walk away with amazing finds like this!
