black is the new black

a few months ago i entered a contest at Joe Fresh and although I didn't win I was a finalist and won a $100 giftcard to shop my heart out. Joe Fresh is all about colorful basics.
i walked away with this black dress that i thought would be the perfect staple for my Fall wardrobe as well as a skirt and a sweater. can't believe sweater season is upon us...well actually its HERE but when i took these photos last weekend it was gorgeous.

Dress: Joe Fresh | Shoes: Steve Madden Hilight Sneakers | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. Mini

this look is super chill and basic. i paired my Joe Fresh dress with my super comfy sneakers and Karen Walker sunnies! I actually have a pair of Karen Walker sunnies on sale at Shop Fashion Steele NYC so make sure to check it out! i have quite literally worn this dress once a week i love it so much. comfortable heavy fabric dresses like this one and
fashionable yet comfortable shoes make me a happy girl. better show these gams off while i can because i have a feeling its going to be a harsh cold winter O_o

Fall Trends Obsessions

i have two new obsessions....cargo jackets/vests and ox blood colored anything.
i admit i am very persuaded by the Fall trends. i can't help myself. after flipping through September and October issues of Elle, Marie Claire, Lucky and Glamour, all i crave is deep burgundys and reds in my wardrobe. i foresee that my Fall and Winter will be full of blacks, greys and reds with pops of mint, forest green and whites. i snatched up this awesome French Connection Jacket from Loehmanns. When I saw it i knew immediately that it can be paired with skinny jeans, pencils skirts and just about anything else I have. its best to invest in pieces that can be worn with anything and that you know you will wear on a regular basis.

Shoes: L.A.M.B. Mya | Clutch: Zara

im so sad that summer is over but i finally get to wear all my favorite boots and jackets which makes me happy. this is another spin on my Fall Uniform which consist of a jacket and skirt like this post from last week. its also a similar color concept. i really have to force myself not to buy any more burgundy and red pieces. lol.
ps...im seriously considering cutting my hair again...like this or this.
UPDATE: i actually bought these fabiana's thanks to a reader alerting me to the sale at TheOutnet.com.
YAY!

what gets you to move in on a trend?

NYFW Spring 2013 Day 3

thank goodness i only had 3 shows to attend today.
i seriously need a foot break from high heels.
today im going with my gorgeous HACHE dress that I picked up at Century 21 a few weeks back.
i love the fine details, the subtle print and the shape of the skirt...not to mention the POCKETS!

Dress: Hache | Shoes: L.A.M.B. Mirage | Lipstick: Nars Heat Wave

Today's Schedule
Son Jung Wan
VLOV
Christopher Esber & Ellery

Son Jung Wan was incredible as always. It was ethereal and feminine as ever. I really loved the styling of the models hair in funky braids. I also love the use of colors such as lavender, bright blues and greens....my favorite!

Thanks VLOV for the much needed testosterone! the collection was easy breexy, light an airy, with lots of light weight blazers. I very wearable collection and if I had a boyfriend I'd make him buy copoious amounts of VLOV! See the full video HERE.

Last was Ellery and Christopher Esber both of which I LOVED. I fell hard for these Ellery shorts! They are gorgeous and very well tailored.

it's here it's here it's finally here Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week
officially kicks off today and I could NOT be more thrilled! im so looking forward to catching up with blogger buds and seeing the latest in Spring trends.
today i went with an all green look. for some reason i wanted to keep it simple yet with an unexpected twist.
Todays Schedule
Tadashi Shoji
ARISE Magazine African Icons Presentation

The Tadashi Shoji runway setup was soooo whimsical and amazing. I guess it was a little hint to because he when with a lot of lace and blues this season. I am a huge fan of lace! The dresses were either fitted to the tee or free flowing fabrics that accentuate all the right places.
Tadashi sure can make the hell out of a dress.

HELLO.....i almost died when i saw the last stunning white dress with side cutouts. it is freaking fabulous. i don't know where I would wear such a dress but i am determined to have this...one day...after saving a lot. lol. needless to say Tadashi Shoji kicked ass.
I wonder if his home is filled with beautiful fabrics that he sleeps in.....

Next up was ARISE Magazine Spring 2013 Collections
Tiffany Amber
Tsemaye Binite
Gavin Rajah
Maki Oh
Ozwald Boateng

Maki Oh
All of the Arise Magazine African Icons Collections were great but my favorite was definitely
Maki Oh. I loved the shape of the skirts and the use of fringe and velvet. For video and info on the other designers who showed at ARISE check out my NYFW link.
