The bandage skirt

i usually shy away from very tight clothing...mainly because it rides up and i end up tugging on it all night and feeling self conscious. but this bandage skirt is different. it hardly ever rides up because of the material. i think its perfect for a date night. since the bottom is so tight i went with a more billowy top to balance it all out.

Skirt: La Cite get similar here and here | Top: Top Shop | Shoes: L.A.M.B. Morisa |
Lip: Nars Heat Wave | Necklace: Thrifted from Brooklyn Flea Market

i have a booty and i dont like it to be fully exposed...especially on a first date. i usually wait to a second or third date to shut it all the way down lol. So i like to leave my shirt untucked in the back. it serves a dual purpose of covering my booty tootch and making the look less pretentious and more laid back. a perfect outfit for a date to dinner or a movie. i love these L.A.M.B. sandals because although they are hella high they are really quite easy to walk in for a long period of time. Stay tuned for more What to Wear Series!
whats your go to outfit for a date night?

all thrifted outfit part I

so last weekend I enjoyed 2 full days of thrifting with a haul at Salvation Army in Harlem and a haul at Beacon's Closet in downtown Manhattan.  I scored some pretty awesome pieces for such fashion STEELE's. I decided to do an all thrifted outfit post mixing pieces from each thrift adventure. well not everything is thrifted but the clothing is...hey a girls gotta accessorize right?!

Top: thrifted from Beacon's Closet | Skirt: thrifted from Salvation Army
Shoes: L.A.M.B. Morisa | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. | Necklace: Modern Tibet

thrifting can be hella rewarding and fun! i love it when I find great pieces. i was drawn to this skirt because of the pleats and the color. i have a similar vintage skirt here. anywho this skirt came with this top that a rocked in last weeks post with an American Apparel skirt.

Top Tribal Outfit Picks

my obsession with tribal/print inspired clothing is at an all time high.
I am itching for some african prints, bright greens and yellows and bulky jewelry.

i'm thinking of visiting a few african shops around Harlem and getting some fabric for a tulip skirt. I have the way I want the skirt to look in my mind...I just have to find a good seamstress to make it happen. at times like these i wish I knew how to sew...lol. ps...my L.A.M.B. shoe obession continues.

the white dress

this is one of my favorite summer dresses that I picked up years ago at TJ Maxx.
The last time I wore it I was in Mexico in Playa Del Carmen. i miss it there. I had such an amazing time and something about the weather there really agreed with my skin and hair. lol.
anywho on my visit home to North Carolina last weekend I took these photos out by a lake near my moms house. did you catch the photo of my moms christmas tree on instagram. Yes...she still has her tree up. damn shame. lol.

Dress: Unknown | Belt: Forever 21 | Necklace: Unknown Brand via Loehmanns
Earrings: Light Years | Shoes: L.A.M.B. Morisa

i had such a great time at home with my family. it's been a good while since I've seen them. while at home i did a lot of shopping and eating. i also saw the movie Snow White and the Huntsman as well as Battleship. I liked them both. I also liked paying only 7 bucks to see them versus the 13 bucks in NYC. so back to this outfit...i picked up this necklace a few weeks ago and am currently in love with it as well as my $5 Forever 21 belt! Fashion STEELE!
If you are looking for a similar white dress for summer check out this one and this one.
shout out to my cuzzo Royal for taking these flicks for me!

MAY Birthday SHOES

So I actually managed to buy 5 pairs of shoes this month.
Wow. My name is Monroe Steele and I am a shoe-aholic.
well in all fairness it was my birthday gift to myself.
Thanks again May for having 5 weeks.

drumroll please.......
Shoes left to right in center photo

I must say I'm simply thrilled with my new additions. The L.A.M.B., Vince Camuto's and Michael Kors sling backs all came from Loehmanns so I definitely didn't pay full price for any of them. I picked up the neon H&M sandals while in Barcelona and Zara basic sandals that everyone has...I finally have thanks to a 4am email alert.

now...i must plan many an outfit around all of these beauts.
i'm a total shoe whore. check out my SHOE COLLECTION VIDEO on my YouTube Channel.

walk on the tribe side

i've been on a print, tribal, african kick lately. I think this obsession began when I followed Solange on Instagram. Her style is fly and I love that she is so grounded. Anywho...I received this awesome top from Eileen Fisher and instantly knew what to pair it with for the tribal and print feel I was going for.

Sunnies: Vintage Caribe via Le Swing Vintage in Barcelona | Earrings: Street Vendor

there are my favorite shoes at the moment again. i love the overall tribal feel of this outfit. I am definitely on the hunt for more african prints and tribal inspired accessories and shoes. i am also inlove with these sunglasses. you can find a similar pair here. i already know this Eileen Fisher Top will be one of my summer staples. It's light, airy and will work with just about everthing in my wardrobe: summer skirts, denim shorts, linen pants. It even works as a covering for my bathing suit! check out more of my tribal inspired posts here and here.
Also Check out this oufit post in video on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
ps...i've noticed my hair getting lighter and lighter brown as i get older...weird.
who are you following on social media that keeps you inspired?
