thrifted thanksgiving

so i wanted a retro style dress for Thanksgiving with my family in North Carolina.
i found the perfect vintage dress at Beacon's Closet. It's a wrap style dress in a deep, rich red color with a green and orange floral print. i knew it would work perfectly with my red Zara booties. i had such an amazing Thanksgiving. i got to see a lot of my family members who i havent seen in years and I also ate a ton...and i mean A TON of food.

ohhhhh snap. i pulled out the thigh high boots! what i love most about these boots is that they still make it possible for me to wear skirts and sometimes even shorts in the colder months. these are suede and super warm too. thigh high boots are versatile and can work with jeans too! i got these babies last year and they have come in quite handy.

the weekend

This past weekend I took a little trip to Washington DC to hang out with a friend for her birthday.
It's a quick train or bus ride from New York City.
It was nice to get out of the city for a few days and discover DC.
They have some really great Thrift Shops as well.
Check out my weekend in photos.

The weekend started with my office holiday party aboard the Spirit of New York. It was really fun. I got my Cha Cha slide on too! Then I headed the train to DC for the weekend and did a little sight seeing and attended a very fun birthday party!
Overall it was an awesome weekend complete with a 3 piece wing dinner from Bojangles. They don't have a Bojangles in New York and I was cravvvvvvvving it!

I'm looking forward to a few holiday parties next weekend as well.
Check back for an outfit post tomorrow!

a modern twist

I got this amazing jacquard belle skirt about 6 years ago at a vintage shop in Chapel Hill North Carolina, Time After Time Vintage Thrift. It instantly reminded me of Carrie Bradshaw my fashion icon. I've actually only worn it once to a semi formal ball. It's perfect for all these holiday parties coming up too.

Outfit
Skirt: Vintage
Top: Forever 21
Shoes: L.A.M.B. via Loehmanns see them worn differently HERE and HERE
Bag: BCBGeneration via Filenes Basement
Jacket: Dallin Chaise via Loehmanns
Watch: BCBG via Loehmanns
This skirt was less than $20 a fashion steele indeed but it looks so lush! It's also really heavy so it can be worn for those special occasions in the winter as well. The skirt to me is so over the top so I decided to give it a modern twist with a plain tee shirt and a leather jacket. See more of my favorite vintage skirts here and here.
